Hi, my name is Jane Cafarella and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I was researching some family history on the internet and came across your site. I am very interested in the fact that your side of the Cafarella family came from the same place as mine - my grandfather, Gaetano Cafarella, came from Malfa to Australia in the late 1920s or early 30s, while my grandmother, Angelina Tarranto, came from Salina around 1920. Her father was called Frank, and my father, born in Australia in 1933, was named after him. His older brother was christened Gaetano but was known as Tom. Do you think we might be related?

I do not think there is a doubt. It is a small town, and though relationships are a bit difficult to trace, we are certainly related.
I am sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner as I have been heavily involved in research and in the cookbook and the other side of the family before they all die off.....an ongoing problem. Please feel free to contact me at the email provided. I can call you on skype if you would like to give me your number. You should join skype and get all your overseas relatives to do so as well...v ery cheap or free telephone.
